Thursday departures from Istanbul to the Hellenistic sites of Turkey along the Western shore

Day 1 Thu : Istanbul

Greeting at Istanbul airport and transfered to your hotel.  Free time to relax followed by an evening welcome briefing and overnight.

Day 2 Fri : Istanbul
Full day tour including to the famous most famous sites of Istanbul including the sultans' residence: Topkapi Palace (excluding
harem), Hippodrome, the 16th century Blue Mosque, the majestic St. Sophia, symbol of ancient Byzantium, and finally the Grand Bazaar. Tonight optional: Dinner with belly dancing entertainment. (B)

Day 3 Sat : Gallipoli – Dardanelles – Canakkale
This morning we drive though the European lands of Turkey to
Gallipoli, where we will visit Anzac Cove and Lone pine cemetery, Chunuk Bair reminders of  the painful events during WWI. Continue across the Dardanelles Strait by ferryboat to the Asian side to Canakkale where we have dinner and overnight (B,D)  

Day 4 Sun : Troy - Pergamum – Izmir
We start today's excursion with a visit to the site of Troy immortalized by Homer's Iliad and of course Hollywood. See the  reconstructed legendary wooden horse. Drive to Pergamon, an important Greek city, the site of the ancient Medical Center Asclepion, the first known hospital in the world. Before arriving into Asclepion, enjoy lunch with locals in a traditional local village. Continue on to Izmir, the largest city on the Aegean Coast for dinner and overnight. (B,L, D)

Day 5 Mon : Ephesus & St. Mary’s House – Izmir
Tour the famous ruins of Ephesus, the best preserved Greco-Roman city in the world with it elegant marble side walks, public buildings, theatres and temples remaining testaments to former prosperity. Later, we drive uphill to the charming and simple little stone house of the Virgin Mary, where she spent the last years of her life accompanied b St John.
View a demonstration of a local rug production center and see the skill of local craftsmen in this old art and craft typical of Turkish life.  Tonight optiponal dinner at a local restaurant. (B,)

Day 6 Tue : Izmir – Pamukkale
Drive through fertile valleys to Pamukkale famous for its white lime
cascading waterfalls, then visit Hierapolis the ancient Roman spa town. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to enjoy the local therapeutic waters in the swimming pool of your spa hotel. (B,D)

Day 7 Wed : Pamukkale – Bodrum
Today we will drive back to the coast to the perttyr seaside town of Bodrum, ancient Halicarnassus former location of the original Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Time at leisure to walk around the harbour or to visit Bodrum castle that once belonged to the Knights of St. John. Tonight you are free for dinner and can choose from the many local taverns and restaurants. (B)

Day 8 Thurs : Bodrum- Kos  (optional)
Free day to relax on tnhe coast or take an optional boat tour to the nearby Greek island of Kos. Dinner and olovernight in Bodrum (B,D)

Day 9 Friday. Bodrum – Termesso- Antalya
Today we drive to Antalya with a stop en route at Termessos, the ancinet Hellen-Roman city high in the mountians for protection from invaders. Dinner and overnight in Antalia. (B, D)

Day 10 Sat: Antalya: - Perge -Aspensos
Today we visit
Visit to the ancient city of Perge, capital of Pamphilia with its extensive ruins. We also stop at Aspensos to see the Roman theatre, one of the best preserved ancient theaters in the world. Afternoon free time to relax by the Mediterranean coast  in your deluxe hotel. (B,D) 

Day 11 Sun: Antalya Transfer to airport (B)
Transfer to Antalya airport.
