Our trip covers what is perhaps the most beautiful part of
the Turkish Mediterranean coast, exploring classic sites and seascapes on
easy walks. A relaxing and enjoyable holiday in quaint and historical
towns with carefully selected, restored local architecture hotels where
available. Shopping options at local rug cooperatives, a pottery making
workshop, vineyards, onyx factories and first hand interaction with local,
friendly Turkish people.
Day 1 Thu: Istanbul Arrival. You will be met at the airport
and transferred to your boutique hotel. Meet your guide in the evening
for a briefing. Overnight.
Day 2 Fri: Istanbul
After buffet brekfast embark on a
full day tour of Istanbul and visit theTopkapi Palace Museum, former
residence of the Ottoman Sultans between (excluding harem). Visit the
Hippodrome, which was
once the center of life where chariot racing
and other public events took place in Roman times. Continue to the Blue
Mosque built by the first Sultans and well known for its blue ceramic
tiles. See majestic Hagia Sophia, the symbol of Byzantinum and one of
the world’s greatest architectural wonders. Laster we visit
Bazaar, the world’s largest and oldest covered market with over 60
streets. Tonight join an optional dinner with belly dancing
Day 3 Sat: Gallipoli – Dardanelles – Canakkale
In the morning, depart for Gallipoli, the site of many battles during
WWI. Visit Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery and Chunuk Bair, then cross
the Dardanelles to Canakkale for overnight. B D.
Sun: Troy – Pergamum – Izmir |
Visit Troy with its famous
wooden horse, best known for being the setting of the Trojan War and
many cities built on top of each other. Before arriving into Asclepion,
enjoy lunch with locals in a traditional local village. Then continue to
Pergamum to visit the ancient Medical Center, the Asclepion the very
first known medicla center in the worl, and continue to Izmir for
overnight. B L D
Day 5 Mon: Ephesus & St. Mary’s House.
Morning tour of Ephesus,
the best reconstructed Greek -Roman city in the world. Explore 2,000 year-old marble streets, a
theater, the library of Celsius, a gymnasium and Hadrian’s Temple. Take
a short drive to see St. Mary’s stone cottage on top of the nearby
hills where she stayed later in
life accompanied by St. John. Continue to a regional rug producing
center for a short demonstration, then return to Izmir for overnight.
Tonight you might one to join and optional dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6 Tue: Izmir – Pamukkale
|Drive through lush
valleys to Pamukkale, the picturesque Cotton Fortress ,with white lime
cascades formed by hot mineral springs. Visit ruins of the Roman health
spa of Hierapolis and enjoy a swim in your hotel’s thermal pool.

Day 7 Wed: Pamukkale –
After breakfast departure back to the coast and
drive to Bodrum. Free time to explorative the town with its attractive
harbour of white wahed houses, restaurants and shops. You can visit
Bodrum castle, former stronhold of the Knights of St John and the
underwater explorations museum. Overnight in Bodrum. B.
Day 8 Thu: Bodrum – Cappadocia
After breakfast, late
morning departure to the airport for flight to Cappadocia. Dinner and
overnight at Cappadocia. B D.
Day 9 Fri: Cappadocia|
Early Morning Optional: Hot
Air Balloon ride to float through volcanic valleys, fairy chimneys and
caves at sunrise. Return to the hotel and after breakfast visit Goreme,
a historical region of Turkey, located among the rock formations,
settled back in the Roman Christian period. Many rock churches can still
be seen today, as Christianity was then the prevailing religion in that
region. Continue to the town of Avanos renowned for its high quality
earthenware. We will also visit Pasabagi, Devrent Valley and attend a
brief regional pottery workshop.Dinner at a special local restaurant.
Join an optional Whirling Dervishes performance. B D.
10 Sat: Cappadocia – Istanbul
After breakfast depart to the
airport for flight to Istanbul. In the afternoon, join an optional
half-day Bosphorus cruise enjoying on the strait that separates Asia and
Europe. Both shores are lined with fine
palaces, fortresses, old wooden villas, hotels, parks. After the cruise
we take you to the colorful spice markets for last minute farewell
shopping and picture taking.Overnight Istanbul. B
Day 11 Mon Istanbul
Transfer to the airport to board
your international flight.
